Toy Library.

Our Toy Library consists of thousands of specialist and conventional toys for children of all ages and abilities. We loan our toys to parents and schools on a monthly basis, and invite children to our groups to play with toys within the Bradford Inclusive Disability Services facilities as outpatients.

New families can become a member of BIDS and access our services by either calling us or popping in when they are at Children’s Outpatients. We make you an appointment between Monday and Friday that lasts for about 20 minutes. Once signed up, parents can access the toy library and take up to 4 toys for a month, as well as become a member of our other groups. We also developed the service within schools to help accommodate those who are unable to travel to us.

My son has been off school for over a year and the toy library had been amazing! He looks forward to going in and having a chat with volunteers and staff, and they make a great effort with him. They search for and match toys to his ability and the right level of challenge. My son enjoys it so much, he says "its like going into Smyths!" We have been able to build therapy in through these toys and work on his fine motor skills and turn taking practice which has been very effective. It has helped us to tie in therapy through play.
